Below are the designs for you to choose from. Only choose one design and for one month only.

Assignment 2 -Festive Calendar (20%)

In this assignment, your task is to create a calendar based on a festive season like Christmas, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and so on. In other words, you are to create a calendar based on the month the festival fall into.

For example, Christmas will be in the month of December, Chinese New Year will be in the month of Feb (in 2010), Hari Raya will be in the month of September.

Students are to incorporate the design principles that were learnt in MDP class.

ONLY USE ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR SOFTWARE!!!

Requirements:
(1) Each student is to come up with a statement and a description about the festival for 2009 (except for New Year and Chinese New Year which will be in 2010).

For example: "Hari Raya is fun". A short description on how or why Hari Raya is fun should be written.

Based on that statement and description, you are to design an illustration to depict that statement, using shapes, drawings, basic colours and so on.

Other holidays allowed will be Merdeka Day (August 31st 2009) and national day of other nationals (once approved by Ms. Edina).

(2) Students are to use one of the of calendars provided and to follow the design as well as the layout. The objects can be changed but the positioning as well as the layout design must remain the same.

The initial design should be drawn on paper and later incorporate into the Illustrator software.

(3) The calendar shall consist of two parts - the illustration depicting the festival based on the statement and the other is the days of in the month. Be creative.

(4) Any references that you used to create this calendar should also be stated in the documentation.

Assignment 2

Assignment 2 -Festive Calendar (20%)

In this assignment, your task is to create a calendar based on a festive season like Christmas, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and so on. In other words, you are to create a calendar based on the month the festival fall into.

For example, Christmas will be in the month of December, Chinese New Year will be in the month of Feb (in 2010), Hari Raya will be in the month of September.

Students are to incorporate the design principles that were learnt in MDP class.

ONLY USE ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR SOFTWARE!!!

Requirements:
(1) Each student is to come up with a statement and a description about the festival for 2009 (except for New Year and Chinese New Year which will be in 2010).

For example: "Hari Raya is fun". A short description on how or why Hari Raya is fun should be written.

Based on that statement and description, you are to design an illustration to depict that statement, using shapes, drawings, basic colours and so on.

Other holidays allowed will be Merdeka Day (August 31st 2009) and national day of other nationals (once approved by Ms. Edina).

(2) Students are to use one of the of calendars provided and to follow the design as well as the layout. The objects can be changed but the positioning as well as the layout design must remain the same.

The initial design should be drawn on paper and later incorporate into the Illustrator software.

(3) The calendar shall consist of two parts - the illustration depicting the festival based on the statement and the other is the days of in the month. Be creative.

(4) Any references that you used to create this calendar should also be stated in the documentation.

(5) Size of the calendar (31 X 52cm) should be printed in A3 size paper (to include both image and dates), (portrait or landscape) mounted on to an appropriate mounting board.

You may also decide to use two A3 size boards, one for the image and the other for the dates. However, the size of the assignment should fit on to a A3 mounting board.

(6) You are to use the tools in Illustrator like the pen tool, basic colours, shapes to draw and create this calendar and the text and numbers that go with a calendar. Only create for one month, the month the festival is celebrated.

(7) No late submissions. Submission to your Group leader on week 9 (Week of April 6th, 2009) in tutorials.

(8) Class rules apply.
